Ripu, Roga, Rina: Enemies, Disease and Debt
Every classical text gives the 6th house the same three subjects, and they belong together more than they first seem. An enemy is someone working against you from outside. A disease is something working against you from inside. A debt is a claim on you that you have not yet settled. All three are a struggle, and the 6th house shows how a person handles struggle: whether he fights, avoids it, or is worn down by it.
That is why the 6th house is never judged only by how many troubles it shows. Two people can face the same lawsuit; the one with a strong 6th wins it and comes out stronger. The house measures resistance as much as trouble.
The 6th House and Health
Three houses divide the subject of illness. The 6th shows disease that comes and is fought off: infections, inflammation, digestive trouble, the illnesses of daily life. The 8th shows chronic or serious illness, surgery and longevity. The 12th shows hospital stays and the cost of treatment. The 1st, behind all of them, shows the vitality that decides how quickly you recover.
A malefic in the 6th, against expectation, often gives good resistance; the body fights back. Trouble comes when the 6th lord sits in the 1st or 8th, or when the 6th and 8th lords join, and the dasha of such a planet is a time to take health seriously and see a doctor early rather than late. Astrology shows the weak period; medicine treats it.
Service, Jobs and Competitive Exams
The 10th house is the career; the 6th is the daily work that serves it, and above all service, working under someone for a salary. When the 6th and 10th lords are linked, the native is suited to employment, and when the link also touches the Sun or the 11th, to government service. Competitive exams, interviews and promotions all fall under the 6th, because each is a contest against rivals.
If you are asking when the job will come, the when will I get a job calculator reads the timing, and government job astrology checks the links behind a sarkari naukri.
Why Malefics Win in the 6th House
The 6th is both a dusthana and an upachaya, a house of trouble and a house of growth. Benefics such as Jupiter, Venus and the Moon are uncomfortable there; their gentleness is no use in a fight, and they may even give the native's good things to his enemies. Malefics feel at home. Saturn outlasts opponents, Mars defeats them openly, Rahu outwits them, and the Sun overrules them with authority.
A malefic in the 6th, especially in a good sign, is one of the most practical placements a chart can have. It does not remove enemies; it makes the native the one they cannot beat.
Viparita Raja Yoga: When the 6th Lord Rescues the Chart
When the lord of the 6th sits in the 8th or 12th house, or the lords of the 8th and 12th sit in the 6th, the troubles of one dusthana are swallowed by another. This is Viparita Raja Yoga, and the 6th lord's version is called Harsha Yoga. It gives health, victory over enemies and a rise after a difficult phase.
The condition is that the planets involved are not linked with the kendra or trikona lords. When they are, the yoga mixes with ordinary results and loses its clean reversal. Such yogas are checked along with the others in the Raj Yoga and Dhan Yoga calculator.
Lord of the 6th House in the 12 HousesWhere the sixth lord sits | |
|---|---|
| Placement | Main Result |
| 1st House | Strong fighting spirit, but health and enemies stay close to the native; a career in service |
| 2nd House | Money tied up in loans or disputes; harsh speech; family quarrels over property |
| 3rd House | Victory over rivals through courage and effort; enmity with siblings or neighbours |
| 4th House | Disputes over property or with relatives; the mother's health needs care; a restless home |
| 5th House | Children may be delayed or troubled; intelligence used in law, medicine or debate |
| 6th House | Strong 6th house: enemies defeated, good health and a long career in service |
| 7th House | Friction in marriage or with partners; lawsuits over business; the spouse may be unwell |
| 8th House | Viparita Raja Yoga (Harsha): rise through adversity, enemies destroy themselves |
| 9th House | Differences with the father or guru; obstacles in fortune that are overcome with effort |
| 10th House | Career in service, law, medicine, the police or the armed forces; competitive success |
| 11th House | Gains through competition, service or lending; rivals turn into contacts |
| 12th House | Viparita Raja Yoga: enemies weaken, debts clear, and the native gains through loss |
The table is the direction only. A 6th lord in the 1st that is exalted gives a fighter who thrives on pressure; a debilitated one gives the same pressure without the strength to meet it.

The Sixth House in My Own Chart
With Leo rising, my 6th house is Capricorn. It is empty, and no planet aspects it. Its lord Saturn sits in the 3rd house, in Libra, where it is exalted.
An empty, unaspected 6th is a quiet house of conflict, which is what one wants. The lord tells the rest: a 6th lord in the 3rd moves from one growth house to another, and exalted, it turns the house of enemies into the house of effort. Rivals are dealt with by outworking them, not by fighting them. The same Saturn also rules my 7th, so the planet that governs competition governs partnerships too, and it does both slowly and steadily.
Remedies for a Troubled 6th House
For enemies and lawsuits, the classical remedy is the worship of Hanuman or of Goddess Durga, and the Baglamukhi mantra is traditionally recited for victory in court. For debt, clear the smallest loan first and never borrow in the period of a weak 6th lord. For health, keep a fixed daily routine, since the 6th is also the house of daily habits, and treat the stomach with care.
Strengthen the 6th lord only when it is a functional benefic for your ascendant; strengthening the lord of a dusthana can also strengthen its troubles. Service to the sick, to animals and to people who work under you is the remedy that works for every 6th house, because it turns the house of service into a source of merit.
