In a birth chart the career house is counted from the lagna. A sign horoscope cannot know your lagna, so Jyotish offers a second starting point that nearly everyone can use: the Moon, called Chandra lagna. The career horoscope counts the tenth house from there.
Chandra lagna is not a lesser substitute. Classical astrologers read every chart from both the lagna and the Moon, and a planet that is strong from both carries its promise furthest. Counting from the sun sign gives a different tenth house, and Vedic transit reading does not start from it. So when the career reading says Saturn is pressing on your work or Jupiter is lifting it, it means the tenth, sixth and eleventh houses counted from your moon sign.
