Ganesh Puja Online to Remove Obstacles

Why Ganesha Is Worshipped First

Watch any puja in an Indian home, from a wedding to a housewarming, and it begins the same way: with Ganesha. He is Vighnaharta, the one who removes obstacles, and also Vighnakarta, the one who places them in the path of work begun carelessly. So he is asked first, before anything else is started, to clear the way rather than block it. In my own practice I have seen many people book a large puja for a large problem and forget the small one that comes before it — the blessing to begin.

When to Book Ganesh Puja

Wednesday is Ganesha's day, and Chaturthi, the fourth tithi of each lunar fortnight, is his tithi: Vinayaka Chaturthi in the bright half and Sankashti Chaturthi in the dark half. Ganesh Chaturthi in Bhadrapada is his great festival. You can check the tithi today to see when the next Chaturthi falls.

Beyond the calendar, the right time is the start of something that matters: opening a shop or an office, joining a new job, buying a vehicle, a child's first day at school, an important exam or interview, the first talks of a marriage. Families also have it done when a piece of work has been stuck for months without any clear reason.

What Happens During the Puja

The pandit takes the sankalp in your name and gotra, asking for the way ahead to be cleared of whatever stands in it. Ganesha is then invoked and worshipped with durva grass, red flowers, modak and laddoo, lamp and incense, with his mantras recited, and the puja ends with the aarti. It is not a long ritual, but it is never rushed; every offering is made in its place.

You watch it live from your Astromitra account. If the puja is for a particular piece of work, keep something connected with it near you while it runs — the shop keys, the admit card, the file.

When Obstacles Come From the Chart

Some delays are not ordinary bad luck. When the same kind of work is blocked again and again, Rahu and Ketu are often involved, either by placement or by the period running. If that sounds familiar, look at where the Rahu transit falls for you, or chat with an astrologer to see whether the puja should be joined by a remedy for the planet behind it.
