How Numerology Reads the Match Between Two People

Couples often come to me without a birth time for one of them, and kundli matching cannot be done properly without it. Numerology can. With two names and two dates of birth, it shows how two people are likely to get along: in daily life, in what they want from life, and in how each one's nature fits the other's path.

Every number from 1 to 9 is ruled by a planet, and the planets have old friendships and rivalries. Numerology compatibility puts each person's numbers side by side and asks whether their planets are friends, neutral or at odds. Done carefully, across all three numbers, it gives a clear and fair picture of a match.

What the calculator above gives you: both people's birth, destiny and name numbers, a score out of 100, how the two of you get along in each of the four parts of the match, and what helps your match most.

The Four Parts of a Numerology Match

PartNumbers ComparedWhat It Shows
Day to DayBirth number with birth numberHow the two natures get along in everyday life
Life PathDestiny number with destiny numberWhether both lives are heading the same way
Nature and DestinyEach birth number with the other's destiny numberWhether each one helps the other along their path
NamesName number with name numberHow the two come across to each other

The birth numbers carry the most weight, because a relationship is lived day to day. The destiny numbers and the cross between nature and destiny come next, and the names count least. The third part is the one most people never hear about, and in my experience it explains a great deal: two people can get along beautifully and still find that one's nature keeps getting in the way of what the other is trying to do.

If you do not know your own numbers yet, the numerology calculator works out your birth, destiny and name number and reads each one.

Friendly and Unfriendly Numbers

The friendships follow the planets. The Sun (1) and Saturn (8) are the classic rivals: one wants to lead and shine, the other wants patience and rules, and couples with 1 and 8 often describe exactly that tension. The Moon (2) sits easily with the Sun (1) and with Rahu (4), but finds Mercury (5) too restless and Saturn (8) too cold.

A friendly pair makes that part of the relationship flow without effort. A neutral pair works with a little give and take. An unfriendly pair is not a reason to give up; it shows where the two of you will need patience, and where talking openly matters most.

When Both Share the Same Number

Two people with the same birth number feel familiar to each other from the start. They react to the same things in the same way and rarely need to explain themselves. That is a real strength, and it scores high. It is not scored as perfect, because two people alike in everything also share the same blind spots: two 1s can both want to lead, two 8s can both wait for the other to move.

Numerology Compatibility for Love and Marriage

For marriage in India, the first check is still kundli matching: the eight kootas of guna milan out of 36, and the Manglik check from Mars. Those need both birth times. When a birth time is not known, or when a couple wants a second view, numerology is the next best tool, and I use it often.

The two do not always agree, and that is useful in itself. A couple with a modest guna score and very friendly numbers usually finds daily life easier than the kootas alone suggest. A couple with high gunas and clashing birth numbers should expect small, everyday friction even in a good marriage.

For Friends and Business Partners

The same comparison works for any two people: friends, siblings, a manager and a team member. For a business partnership, I read the destiny numbers with extra care. Two partners can work well together day to day and still want different things from the business in five years, and that is where partnerships usually come apart.

A Worked Example: How I Read a Match With My Own Numbers

My own numbers are a birth number of 6, a destiny number of 9 and a name number of 6. This is the order in which I would read anyone's match with me, and the order the calculator follows.

  1. Their Birth Number With My 6Venus rules my 6, so the first question is whether their birth number's planet is a friend of Venus. That decides how easy daily life would be.
  2. Their Destiny Number With My 9Mars rules my 9. Whether their destiny planet gets along with Mars shows whether our lives would pull the same way.
  3. Their Nature With My Destiny, and Mine With TheirsTheir birth number against my 9, and my 6 against their destiny number. This is where a pleasant match can turn out to be a difficult partnership, or the other way round.
  4. The Names LastMy name number repeats my 6, so for me Venus counts twice: a partner whose numbers are friends of Venus would find me easier than the dates alone suggest.

The calculator works through these four comparisons for both of you and turns them into one score, with each part explained.

Questions

Numerology Compatibility: Questions People Ask

Each person's birth number (from the day of birth), destiny number (from the whole date) and name number (from the letters of the name) are found first. Then the numbers are compared pair by pair, using the traditional friendships between the planets that rule them, and the four comparisons are combined into one score out of 100.

The birth number. It describes how each person behaves day to day, and day-to-day life is where a relationship is lived. The destiny numbers and the cross between each person's nature and the other's destiny come next, and the name numbers count least.

It means the planets ruling those numbers pull in different directions, so that part of the relationship needs more effort. It is one part out of four. Many happy couples have one unfriendly pair; what matters is the overall picture and how the two people handle the difficult part.

Two people with the same number understand each other quickly, because they think and react alike. The risk is that both have the same blind spots and dig in on the same things, so a same-number match scores high but not perfect.

No. For marriage in India, kundli matching with the eight kootas and the Manglik check comes first, and it needs both birth times. Numerology is a quick, useful second view, and the only one possible when a birth time is not known.

No. Numerology uses only the names and the dates of birth. Write each name the way the person uses it, in English letters.

Yes. The same numbers describe how any two people get along. For a business partner, give the destiny numbers a little more weight in your own reading, because a partnership depends on where both lives are heading.
