Transition of a planet through the constellations and signs of the zodiac is called Transit or Gochar. For instance, Sun moves into Capricorn on January 14th. Its mean that now Sun is transiting through Capricorn and earlier it was transiting in Sagittarius.
In predictive astrology transit plays an important role in pinpointing an event. However, paramount importance is given to Dashas, Bhukti and promise in horoscope. But Transit also holds a key, when it comes to predict an event through horoscope.
In Phaldeepika, one of the best astrological classical books, the sage Mantreshwar has elaborated in detailed that how an astrologer should examine the results of transiting planets. According to him, when Jupiter transits 1st, 4th, 6th, 8th and 12th houses from Moon or ascendant, it can give tough time to a person.
On the other hand, when Jupiter goes through 2nd, 5th, 7th, 9th and 11th houses from Chandra Rashi or Lagna Rashi, it will provide all the possible comforts to him or her.
We have heard lot of about the transit of Saturn also.
Basically when Saturn transits through 1st, 2nd, 4th, 8th and 12th houses from Moon sign or ascendant, it beings bad luck to native. Its transit through 3rd, 6th and 11th houses is appreciated by all astrological savants.
Astrologers are advised not to focus on transit only, but they should pay required attention of Vedha also.
According to Mantreshwar, without applying Vedha, it is dangerous to predict the results of transit.
In astrology, Sun is said to give favorable results when its transits through 3rd, 6th, 1oth and 11th house. But auspicious results promised by Sun wouldn’t experience by native until any planet, except Saturn, is transiting through 5th, 9th, 4th and 12th house respectively.
